A purpose-built library of modern design making the best use of natural light and ventilation
It is equipped with a new computerised system to record loans and membership details.
A good selection of new books has been added to the stock moved from the old library.
A substantial financial contribution from the Dibden Allotments Charity has enabled the reference and local studies sections to be enlarged to offer a wider range of information and study facilities.
There is an attractive area for children with books for babies and children of all ages.
Automatic doors make access easy for everyone. For those with hearing difficulties an induction loop has been installed on the counter.
In addition to the existing services that were provided in the old library, there are new services on offer:
- Music CDs and videos for loan
- 14-19 Collection for teenagers CD-ROM system for information and help with homework
- Computer terminals to access the library catalogue and check personal loans
- Public Access Internet
- Learning Information Network terminal
- CCTV magnifier to enlarge print or images
- Children's Storytime - Free storytime for under 5's on
Tuesdays 2.15 - 2.45 pm
- Homework club is open at Hythe Library on Fridays during term time from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.
Under the supervision of trained volunteers, children will have access to books in the reference and local history sections of the library as well as CD ROM and internet facilities
