New Forest detectives are appealing for witnesses, after a fire ripped through a commercial unit on Hythe Pier.
Police, who were on patrol in the area at the time, saw smoke coming from the premises of Waterside Plumbing and Heating, at about 6.15pm on Monday, August 7.
As a safety precaution, road closures were initially set up at Prospect Place, at its junction with Jones Lane.
The premises were totally gutted by fire and police are treating the incident as suspicious, yet the cause is still unknown.
DC Matt Taylor of Ringwood CID, said: “Police would like to hear from members of the public who were in the area at the time and in particular, any passengers onboard the Hythe ferry. Those travelling on the vessel as it came into dock at Hythe or anyone travelling on the train along the pier may be able to provide us with vital information.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Matt Taylor at Ringwood CID on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
