Shoppers at Hythe’s weekly market can now carry their purchases away in style, with the launch of the Hythe market carrier bag. The specially designed bags, which carry the bold Hythe market logo, are strong, reusable, and are already proving to be a big hit.
They already have wide appeal - regular stallholder Mark Slater, who sells bags and cases, recently saw somebody using one of the new bags in St. Ives, Cornwall.
Market manager Gary Brown said he was pleased to see the Hythe market message getting out: “New Forest District Council supplies us with these bags and they’re proving to be a big hit. Our traders are very happy with them and have already requested a further supply, mainly because they are more economical.
“The quality of the bags means they can carry more weight than previous bags - it can hold up to 11 kilos. The traders can now use fewer bags per customer, which is also good for the environment. ”
Cllr Jeremy Heron, NFDC portfolio holder for leisure said: “We are very pleased to be supporting Hythe market in this way.
“The clear, distinctive design is easily recognisable, and should help promote the market to a wider audience.”
Hythe market takes place every Tuesday, at St. John’s Street car park, St. John’s Street, from 8.30am to 3pm. |
