| It is not fully known that Spiritualism is a recognised religion. This religion has properly ordained Ministers, having exactly the same status as all other Ministers of religion.
The Spiritualist religion has no dogma or creed but most Spiritualists accept what is known as the Seven Principles, two of which are a belief in One God for all men and women and the acceptance of Personal Responsibility for a persons own actions.
For nearly forty years Hythe Spiritualist Church has met in various locations in and around Hythe.
The very first meeting was held in someone’s home. Hythe Spiritualist Church now meets at the Dibden Parish Hall in West Street, Hythe where every Sunday a service is held.
Sunday service is much like any other with the usual welcome to the congregation by the visiting Speaker, usually a recognised Medium, prayers are said, hymns are sung and the service is brought to a close by the visiting Medium providing evidence to the congregation of the continuity of life.
Every second and fourth Friday of the month a Questions and Answers evening is held at the Community Centre in Brinton Lane, Hythe at 7.30pm Hythe Spiritualist Church for many years has been raising funds not only towards their own permanent home as well as local charities including more recently Hythe Hospital.
Unfortunately, a building has not been forthcoming. This is an appeal to ask if any reader would know of, or has for sale, a building which would be suitable in the local area of Hythe to be used as a Church. |
