Copse closed as specialist police search teams look for evidence following assault on girl
Hampshire Constabulary
Hampshire Constabulary
Police have partially closed off areas of Orestone Copse in Dibden Pirlieu as specialist search teams gather forensic evidence following an incident on a 15-year-old girl.

The girl was walking along a woodland track behind Kensington Fields, Dibden Purlieu, at about 6pm on Thursday, January 4, when the incident took place.
She was walking to a friend’s house when she was approached by a man who assaulted her.

He then walked off in the same direction from which he came.

The girl sustained minor injuries in this isolated incident in a low crime area, but did not require hospital treatment.
In view of this incident, women and girls are being advised by police not to walk alone in isolated areas in darkness and schoolgirls especially, should remain in groups for their own safety.

Officers are also appealing for anyone who has knowledge or information about the incident, or who was in the Challenger Way area of Dibden Pirlieu at the time and saw a man acting suspiciously.

Information should be given by phoning Hythe CID on 0845 045 45 45 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
