Police investigate a racially motivated assault in Hythe

Police in Hythe are appealing for information following a racially motivated assault in Furzedale Park, Hythe.

A six-year-old girl playing outside was approached by two youths at approximately 4.30pm on Monday, March 10.

The youths shouted racial abuse at the girl before pushing her over and running away. The girl did not sustain any physical injuries but was shaken up as a result of the incident.

The youths are described as white, approximately 13 years old, one of large build and one of skinny build and both wearing trainers.

Police Constable Jason Andrews of Hythe police station said: “This is a cowardly attack on a girl playing after school. It is being treated as a racially motivated incident and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened or can assist us in identifying the offenders to get in touch.”
