Weekend party in Dibden Purlieu prompts message from Safer Neighbourhoods team |
Hythe Safer Neighbourhoods team are encouraging parents and guardians to be aware of where their children are and how much alcohol they are consuming after an 18th birthday party in Heatherstone Avenue, Dibden Purlieu prompted a number of calls from residents in the area.
Police were called at approximately 11.45pm on Saturday, May 16 after reports of more than 150 youths drinking and acting in an anti-social manner, which included urinating in public.
Police seized a number of containers of alcohol and an 18-year-old youth from Dibden Purlieu was given a fixed penalty notice for public order offences.
Inspector Kevin Leckey of Hythe Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “It is important that parents and guardians are aware of where their children are and that they do not supply them with alcohol. “We work closely with licensed premises in the New Forest to ensure alcohol is not purchased by anyone underage. Adults should be aware that if they purchase alcohol on behalf of someone under 18 they can be prosecuted, “Adults who host parties for their children’s 18th birthday have a responsibility for the behaviour of their guests, both at the party and when they leave to go home. “Underage drinking and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Hythe and the surrounding areas.” |
