Temporary Road Closure – Various Roads New Forest

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that New Forest District Council, acting as agent to the traffic authority, Hampshire County Council, proposes to make an Order to allow for highway maintenance/improvement  works to be undertaken, as follows:-

ROADS TO BE CLOSED

Those lengths of:  

  1. St Michaels Road Totton, between its junctions with Testwood Lane- 8 weeks, for carriageway resurfacing. Alternative route via Testwood Lane.

  2. Downs Park Road Totton, between its junction with Downs Park Crescent and its junction with Downs Park Avenue-8 weeks, for footway reconstruction works. Alternative route via Downs Park Crescent and Downs Park Avenue.

  3. Hammonds Lane Totton between its junction with A36 Salisbury Road and its junction with Water Lane-4 days for carriageway resurfacing works. Alternative route via Water Lane and A36 Salisbury Road.

  4. North Road Dibden Purlieu between its junction with Beaulieu Road and its junction with Water Lane. Alternative route via Beaulieu Road, Mullins Lane and Water Lane.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

During any period of closure, routes for diverted traffic will be signed on site.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE:  Between 1st July 2008 and 31st December 2008 or until completion of the works whichever is sooner.  (Notwithstanding the above it is expected that the closures will be required for no longer than as listed above.)

INFORMATION BOARDS WILL BE ERECTED ON SITE APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF ANY ROAD CLOSURE BEING IMPLEMENTED (Excluding any closures for emergency works). Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the work is being carried out.

Local notifications regarding the detailed arrangements will be carried out by Hampshire County Council Highways, hampshirehighways.west@hants.gov.uk
