The Waterside Theatre, at Waterside Sports and Social Club, is in desperate need of improvement after over 50 years of service as the only local venue for live stage productions, pantomimes, Broadway musicals, plays, school productions and band concerts, as well as being used for amateur boxing, badminton, short mat bowls and private functions.
The Waterside Theatre Improvement Project aims to bring this valuable community asset up to 21st century standards.
Acoustic tiles have already been installed on the rear wall of the auditorium, which not only improve the quality of the sound, but enhance the appearance of the theatre.
The next project on the list is curtaining the side walls of the auditorium, which will contribute towards further sound improvements, as well as improving the ambiance of the auditorium.
Following on from this there are projects planned to improve the sound system, fill in the windows and invest in an electronic exterior display sign.
In order to raise money for these projects, on 11th & 12th October, at the Waterside Theatre, we are arranging a
including a raffle with a mystery star prize and a prize for the person raising the most sponsorship.
